Frequently Asked Questions
Before you attend your planning session with the NDIA or Local Area Coordinator (LAC), you need to consider how your funds will be managed. If you’re not sure, you can contact us here at Quality Disability Management Services (QDMS) and we can explain your options. At QDMS, we provide independent Plan Management services, delivered in a personal and genuine way by our Plan Managers. Please find below some frequently asked questions, which explains what we do. We would be happy to have a chat and answer any further questions you have.
What is Plan Management?
Choice and Control
Plan Management is the financial management of supports and services in an NDIS plan. This includes expense claims processing, financial reporting and ongoing management of the quality of the supports delivered.
When you meet with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) to initiate or review your plan, you have a range of options to help you manage the services and supports in your plan. You can choose to:
- Self-manage: engage, manage and pay services and supports yourself.
- Have the NDIA manage the payment of funds to providers on your behalf.
- Choose a Plan Manager to manage your plan, and support your decisions and goals.
- A combination of the above.
What is a Support Coordinator?
A Support Coordinator helps you understand and implement the funded supports in your plan. This may include linking you to community, disability, mainstream and other government services in your area. Your Support Coordinators focus is on supporting you to build skills and connect you to services and supports that will help you achieve your goals.
Your Support Coordinator will can also assist you to negotiate prices for services and supports with providers. They will ensure service agreements and service bookings are put in place and providers are accountable for delivering the services described in their agreements. They support you to exercise choice and control, to direct your own care and access your local community.
One of the most important things a support coordinator can do, is assist you in planning ahead to prepare for your NDIS plan review. This includes coordinating reports from therapists, seeking quotes for supports from providers or researching supports and equipment that can help you continue to build your capacity and achieve your goals

What makes QDMS different?
We are independent with lived experience
We are independent with lived experience
At QDMS we have personal experience coordinating support services and managing service providers for our own family members.
While we believe in building strong working relationships with providers, QDMS does not have any agreements or affiliations with other service providers or organisations. By getting to know you and what you would like to achieve from your NDIS plan we can connect you with the best supports and services to match your needs.
Engaging QDMS to support you takes the stress and worry out of finding, managing and paying service providers. This gives you back the most important thing – time to spend with your family and loved ones.
How much does it cost to engage QDMS?
A funded support
As an NDIS participant you can choose to have Plan Management and Support Coordination services included in your plan. As an NDIS registered provider, funding for our services are included in your NDIS plan so there is no out of pocket cost to you.
When you engage us as Your Plan Managers, we put you at the centre of all decision making. It means you have choice and control, without having to spend hours dealing with bills, paperwork and phone calls (we can do all those bits for you!).
